Bangalore's microbreweries and general gentrification may be generating all the buzz but sometimes you just want an old-school favorite that knows the basics and knows them well (e.g. frozen beer mugs). Welcome to Windsor Pub, a casual and laid back drinking den with posters of Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, and Dave Brubeck lining its walls and jazz quietly escaping its speakers. The menu is vast and delicious so prepare yourself for the long haul - it's OK, you can throw away your calorie quota for a day!
The must-tries here are the traditional dishes from Kerala and Coorg, especially the pandhi (pork) fry, along with the crab meat balls and the chilly [insert meat here]. Get here early to get a table because waits are known to be fairly long; not because people don't want to get up, but because they can't. If you prefer a bit of daytime chilling, the pub has a variety of set business lunches that range from Rs. 150 - 200!
Windsor Pub takes a siesta from 3 to 6:30pm everyday of the week so plan accordingly!
