Beer and food seem to dominate Bangalore's "To Do" list, but that doesn't mean the city is completely devoid of cultural activities. We highly recommend exploring an old-school area of the city called Basavanagudi, which houses a number of attractions that are a short walk from one another. These are Vidyarthi Bhavan, the Bull Temple, the Dodda Ganpati Temple, Bugle Rock Park, and Brahmin's Coffee Bar.

We suggest Trabblrs meet at Vidyarthi Bhavan for a breakfast comprised of its famous masala dosas and potent filter coffee. Watching the waiters balance dozens of these ghee-laden savory pancakes and fling them on to welcoming empty plates is an experience in and of itself! Once satiated, make your way to the Bugle Rock Gardens where you can check out the Bull Temple and Dodda Ganpati Temple. The Bull Temple in Bangalore is the largest temple in the world dedicated to the worship of Nandi, a Hindu demi-god and Shiva's mount. Close by is a temple dedicated to the Hindu God of good fortune, the popular elephant-headed Ganpati.

When you're templed out and need a tasty snack, head up a few hundred meters to Brahmin's Coffee Bar, a standing-room only institution with quite possibly the best chutney in town. People often drink it by the glass!

Vidyarthi Bhavan is open from 6:30am to 11:30am and again from 2pm to 8pm. It is closed on Fridays. Brahmin's is open from 6am to 12pm and again from 3pm to 7pm.
