Every respectable city in the world has at least one street dedicated to food - and Bangalore is no exception. Thindi Beedi (Food Street in Kannada) is a 100m long outdoor buffet in an old part of the city called VV Puram. Full of hawkers, mobile carts, and the occasional small stall, Thindi Beedi is a must-visit for anybody who wants to simultaneously consume and burn calories from eating value-for-money treats.
The trick is to pace yourself, both with your walk and your chew. Savories include benne dosas, spiced mango corn, piping hot paddus, and masala botis. If you amazingly still have room for dessert, try the almond milk or juicy jalebis. Please note that although hygiene may not be up to the mark on the street, the food is definitely good to go. Check out this blog post (http://gastronomicalgspot.blogspot.in/2011/10/food-street-thindi-beedi.html) for more information. Warning: do not read on an empty stomach!
We suggest Trabblrs meet at 8-10pm any day of the week on one end of the street at V. B. Bakery.
