Bars and restaurants aren't just for drinking and eating anymore. Well, at least not at Comet Ping Pong anyway, a divey multi-purpose space in Chevy Chase where you get personal wood-fired pies with a side of ping pong and a live band for dessert. How's that for a well-rounded meal?
It's honestly difficult to tell whether people come here for the pizza first and ping pong second, or vice versa. The table tennis-styled tables constantly remind you to partake in the casual sport while the inventive pizzas are a draw in and of themselves as well. Some of the favorites include The Smoky (smoky mushrooms, smoky mozzarella, smoky bacon) and The Yalie (fresh clams, melted onions, lemon). The wings are also top notch.
There are three ping pong tables in the back, which you can play on while you wait for your table or post your meal. Either way, they're absolutely free. We think that some friendly competition and a meal at Comet is a great way for Trabblrs in DC to do something different on a night out. So what are you waiting for? It's time to reignite that back spin!
Meeting point: At the entrance. The closest Metro stop is Tenleytown on the Red Line.
Leaders, the kitchen is open from 5pm to 9:30pm Monday to Thursday, 4pm to 10:45pm on Fridays, 11:30am to 10:45pm on Saturdays, and 11:30am to 9:30pm on Sundays. We suggest Trabblrs visit during the week when there's hardly a wait, if at all.
