Man Fat Sze or Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery is home to - well - thousands of Buddhas! It's 406 steps to the monastery but the climb isn't bad at all if you punctuate your ascent with stops for photographs and views. In the off chance that one of you reads Cantonese then pause to read out to the rest of the group a few of the wise sayings that can be found on some of the statues. Once you arrive at the top, enter the monastery, where even more Buddhas will welcome you. Notice how different they all are from each other!
Meeting point: We recommend Trabblrs to meet at the base of the steps. To get there, take the East Rail Line to Sha Tin station and follow the signs to Man Fat Sze. As you ascend the trail, be careful of barking dogs, mischievous monkeys, and fake monks as you make your way to the top. Depending on the pace, the climb should take about 25 minutes.
