The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum has been a long-standing favorite for many visitors to DC because it makes learning about aviation and space fun. From pieces of historical exhibits such as the the 1903 Wright Flyer to immersive experiences such as an IMAX Theater and Planetarium, the NASM is bound to rekindle childhood dreams of becoming an astronaut.
When you're done exploring the exhibits in National Mall, we highly recommend Trabblrs make a 90-minute journey to visit the museum's sister space, The Udvar-Hazy Center, near the airport. This newer facility is comprised of two massive hangars, each with cool, real-life planes on display, including a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, a Concorde, and the space shuttle Discovery. Sweet! Click here for instructions on how to get to the Center from the Museum - it's really straightforward.
Meeting point: The Welcome Center. The closest Metro stop is L'Enfant Plaza Station on the Blue, Green, Orange, and Yellow Lines.
Leaders, the Museum is open everyday from 10am to 5pm. The Udvar-Hazy Center offers daily tours at 10:30am and 1pm, which last 90 minutes.
