Ask 10 locals in Singapore about their favorite hawker center and you'll probably get 10 different answers. Truth is, there isn't an absolute best hawker center in Singapore. Instead, there are dozens of very, very good ones, which in our opinion is a much better alternative. This way no matter you are in the city, you can get heaps of amazing and hygienic traditional food for cheap.
That said, ask locals about Old Airport Road Market and you'll get overwhelmingly positive reviews. Located in Geylang, this food center has loads of notable stalls, including Lao Fu Zhi Char Kway Teow, Blanco Court Kway Chap, Katong Ah Soon Fried Oyster, and Nam Sing for Hokkien Mee. Just look for the queues - that's where the good food is at.
The best part about going to a hawker center with a bunch of other food-loving Trabblrs is that you can try a little bit of everything. Also, many of the popular stalls have notorious queues that could last up to half an hour - it's always more fun to have some company while you wait!
Meeting point: Lao Ban Soya Beancurd stall. To get to the hawker centre, get off at Dakota MRT station and take Exit A.
