Kong Meng San (Bright Hill) Phor Kark See Monastery is the largest Buddhist temple in Singapore. Comprised of numerous spiritual halls, ornate structures, and even a Bodhi tree, the monastery's complex is a calm and enlightening destination to spend a few hours. Once you're done exploring the different temples in the monastery, you can spend some time in the surrounding manicured gardens.
Being a religious place, there are certain guidelines that you have to follow. Dress respectfully - no shorts or sleeveless tops allowed - and kindly remove your shoes when entering shrine halls. Entry at the monastery is free and so is a simple vegetarian lunch buffet on Sundays but find it in your heart to leave a donation.
Meeting point: Bishan MRT station Exit A. From here, we suggest Trabblrs go to the bus interchange together and then take either bus 410 or bus 52. It's a 10-minute ride to the monastery.
