The Bangkok Art and Culture Center is one of the largest museums dedicated to contemporary art in Thailand. Opened in 2008, the white and curvy BACC is a Guggenheim-esque behemoth full of exhibits and programs in art, music, theater, film, and design. The BACC, however, has an agenda bigger than simply curating and filling its space with interesting visuals. Its aim is to be the breeding ground for cultural dialogue and artist networking, and to inspire creativity among Thais. While the museum may seem oddly empty at times and the exhibits not always of international standard, we recommend a visit here to witness the progress that the country is making in ingraining the arts in its social fabric.
Once you're done checking out the BACC, pick up the Bangkok Art Map at the end of your visit to see what smaller galleries around town are exhibiting.
Meeting point: Welcome desk.
Leaders, the BACC is open from 10am to 9pm on Tuesdays through Sundays. Please note the rules regarding photography in the museum.
