For Trabblrs who want to hang out in a self-described "gathering place", then look no further than Busboys and Poets. We at Trabblr love Busboys and Poets not just because it has an eclectic array of food and cultural events, but also because of its vision - to "inspire social change and begin to transform our community and the world." This is a big reason why Trabblr was created, too.
Although Busboys and Poets now has four locations throughout the Washington Metropolitan area, we suggest Trabblrs visit the flagship space in the U Street Corridor because of the area's rich history. This location also houses a bookstore that's run by Teaching for Change, an NPO that provides teachers and parents with the tools to create schools where students learn to read, write and change the world.
We recommend heading there in the evening for a bite and then grabbing a drink before taking a seat to watch an event that could range from a book reading to an open mic night.
The District's famous Ben's Chili Bowl is also just a five-minute walk away.
Leaders, please check the website for upcoming events in case you want to plan the meet accordingly. Open mic poetry nights are every Tuesday!
Meeting point: By the main entrance. Take the Green or Yellow Line to U Street.
