A contemporary art gallery called Tarq has recently opened in Colaba and deserves your attention. Sanskrit for "discussion, abstract reasoning, logic and cause", Tarq is dedicated to growing a conversation around art from a diverse range of contexts.
The gallery's inaugural exhibition explores the historical pattern of vanishing professions and their attempts to adapt to survive. It features photographs taken over the last six years across seven major Indian cities by Bangalore-based photographer Clare Arni.
The exhibition comes to a close on Saturday, so hurry before it disappears like the artist's subjects.
Meeting point: At the gallery's main entrance. Tarq is located in Dhanraj Mahal, the big heritage building near the Gateway of India that also houses Pizza Express and Le Pain Quotidien.
